If you like any of those things I mentioned above, you really should go to this museum.
This is great for people that like classic cars, antique toys, baseball memorabilia including about 50 signed balls from the greats, model boats, many old pipe organs, very early bicycles and motocycles, a great photo display and much more. Not really for young kids, as noted earlier.
Frankly, I didn't think it would be much.... I ended up staying over 2 hours and I enjoyed every minute.
I was giant fan of the old museum, the new one is random with no charm. The new building lacks any flow and has all the appeal of a medical arts building. There very little displayed and the majority of the cars are in the hideous garage that makes sure guests can't see them. Waste of money and time, very sad loss of what the Elliot family donated. Wish I could zero star rating.
Really enjoyed this museum. Loved all the cars! Disappointed that the car carousel was broken. Lots of stuff about Bob Hope. Definitely a fun afternoon.
There are also many opportunities to get a discounted entry, Seniors, military, etc.
Such a cool museum with a wide variety of items from different era's. There is no possible way to be bored here. My boyfriend and I went strictly to see the cars, assumed that we would be in and out in about an hour tops (we frequent museums, historical places, etc.) we were very wrong. I'm almost certain we sat for at least half an hour watching different antique cars rotating in and out of center stage, that after walking thru the showroom full of them. The second floor was another world all in itself. If you're in the area I certainly recommend stopping in at the Elliot Museum.
It's well worth the money.
There is a unique way that they display many of the classic cars too.
I was disappointed. :( We've wanted to see this museum for a long time. From the road you can see 3 stories of antique cars behind glass. Unfortunately the cars are not set up to walk by and see them as a display. They have a lift system and bring down 1 car at a time to be viewed. You would have to be there all day to view all of the cars. There are a lot of random other exhibits like old baseball bats and dolls, etc. The coolest thing was a really old ford school bus on the floor that you could enter for a photo op. It was really neat seeing the 2 cars we requested brought down on the lift, but as there were other groups of visitors those were the only requests we got to make, and the process of trading out the cars on the lift is very time consuming.
